Why I built Box’d.

The problem wasn't packing. It was trying to find one thing months later, when every box looked the same.

We’ve had a lot of interstate moves in recent years. Not just one house to the next, either. There were months living with family in between, and long stretches where most of our life was packed floor-to-ceiling in storage.

Every week, we’d have to go there to find a specific toy for the kids, scooters for the park, or seasonal clothes. We had to pull almost every single box out onto the concrete driveway, rummaging through identical boxes labeled “Misc” just to find one item.

When the internet technician needed the modem, I spent two hours digging through 75 boxes while he waited. I never found it.

I built Box’d because I’m tired of digging. I wanted a way to “see” inside a box without breaking the tape.

How do I make a searchable moving box inventory?
Add each box in Box'd, give it a number or QR label, then say what's inside while you pack. Later, search for an item and Box'd shows the right box.
Can I use Box'd without QR labels?
Yes. Write a number on each box and enter that number in the app. You still get voice lists, search, and photos. QR labels are only needed for Flashlight Search.
How do I cancel my subscription?
No stress. Manage your subscription in Apple ID settings: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. You can cancel or change your plan anytime.
What kind of labels should I use?
Any standard A4 sticker sheet works. Our layout fits Avery J8165 (Officeworks, Amazon, office suppliers). In a pinch, print on plain paper, cut the codes out, and stick them on with clear packing tape.
Do I have to print labels?
Nope. Write a number on each box with a marker, type that number in the app, and pack as usual. You still get voice lists, search, and photos. Flashlight Search (point your phone around the room to highlight the right box) needs a QR label to scan. Print labels if you want that.
Where should I stick the labels?
Print two copies and put the same code on two sides of the box. That way you can scan whether the box is turned sideways, stacked by movers, or buried in the garage.
Is Box'd only for moving?
We started with moves, but Box'd is for anything in a box or tub: storage, renovations, collections, work gear in the van. If it's packed, we can help you find it.
Can I use Box'd for my small business?
Yes. If you're juggling stock or archives out of a garage or back room, Box'd is a simple list of what's in which box, without enterprise software prices. Flashlight Search helps you spot the right carton without unstacking everything.
Why do you need my camera and microphone?
The camera scans labels and snaps photos of what's inside so you don't have to open the box later. The mic is for voice input: say what's inside while your hands are full, and we'll turn it into a list.
Does Box'd work without internet?
Today Box'd needs internet to stay in sync. We know sheds, units, and garages aren't always online. Offline support is high on the list.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Box'd is iOS-only for now, but Android is on the way. Email us if you want a heads-up when it ships.
Who can see my data?
Only you and people you invite through Partner Share. We don't sell your data, and we don't browse your boxes. Support only looks at your account if you ask us to fix something.
Can I share what's in my boxes with family or movers?
Yes. Partner Share lets you invite people to view your boxes without handing over your login. Look for the share option in the app.
I'm a professional organiser. How do I use this with clients?
Lots of organisers use Box'd. Labels aren't tied to an account until you scan them, so you can print a stack at home, bring it to a job, and scan into your client's account. You don't need their printer. See the full workflow for professional organisers.
Is it free?
Your first 5 boxes are free, no account needed. After that, you can subscribe for unlimited boxes. That keeps the app running (servers, design, coffee).
